Charlotte Bowater established Guilded to provide a specialist turnkey marketing service to high-end craftsmen, designer makers and artists. The concept was arrived at through experience acquired through a 17 year career working among the arts, heritage and within specialist workshops. A clear need was identified for a service that understood the particular issues relating to production and marketing for individual makers and larger workshops. To date Guilded has produced and refined printed and online marketing materials, effectively networked its clients and made introductions, instigated collaborations and identified luxury retail opportunities to the benefit of the workshops it represents. While our work is tailored to our client, Guilded harnesses the cost-effective opportunity presented by careful collective marketing.

Guilded recently identified the opportunity that online company 1stdibs presented to its makers. 1stdibs attracts the international design community to its online site and enables dealers of works of art across a broad range of categories to promote works for sale. Accordingly, Guilded approached 1stdibs owner Michael Bruno and was invited to launch a storefront promoting Contemporary British Craftsmanship through one-offs and limited editions created on an invitation only basis by a carefully selected group of maker and workshops. These makers are thus presented with an opportunity to showcase their skills to over half a million members of the international design community, as well as to set aside time for creative development and to develop a new income stream at a minimum of expense. As the Guilded storefront launches our clients are presenting existing work for sale and are scheduling in new designs in the months ahead. Guilded will present these designs through 1stdibs, and add a limited number of fresh designs on a weekly basis.
